Director Ashutosh Gowarikar is getting a lot of backlash for saying that Aishwarya Rai deserved to win the Best Actress trophy more that Priyanka Chopra at IIFA. But it was Jaya Bachchan , Ash’s mother-in-law, who prompted Gowarikar to root for Ash on stage at IIFA.
It was shocking to see Gowarikar step on stage at IIFA to receive an award but humiliate Priyanka Chopra by publicly questioning how she managed to win the Best Actress award (for Fashion ) when Ash was also nominated in the same category for her performance in Jodhaa Akbar .
Now, Jaya Bachchan has revealed that she suggested Gowarikar to bring up the issue on stage.
“The fact is, I suggested he bring up the question on stage at IIFA. We were discussing why Aishwarya has not been given any award for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and I suggested Ashutosh bring up the matter,”.

 Are they together, are they not? Pranks and Shasha keep their fans guessing. To begin with, the couple has not yet confirmed their relationship. But whenever they’ve been spotted together, the electrifying chemistry between them makes it evident that something is indeed brewing between the two actors.
That was indeed the case when the couple went on a date after Priyanka returned from Macau with an IIFA award for Best Actress – Gowarikar’s rant notwithstanding – in her kitty.
Reports say Shahid took Priyanka out on a lunch date to celebrate her victory. They went to a suburban restaurant where they kept mostly to themselves in spite of the prying eyes around them. The couple, according to onlookers, looked very much in love.

 Actress Priyanka Chopra will soon be seen sizzling on the silver screen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming flick ‘What’s Your Raashee’. The actress got really upset when Ashutosh humiliated her at the IIFA ceremony by making a comment on stage that not her but Aishwarya deserved the best actress trophy. But if reports are to be believed, Priyanka has patched up with the director now.
At IIFA award ceremony, Ashutosh announced that he wished Ash had won the award for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ (his film) rather than Priyanka winning it for ‘Fashion’. Making it worse, he further added that Jaya Bachchan also thought so. This was obviously not taken well by Piggy Chops, as she looked really upset thereafter.

 While the actress has withdrawn into a dignified silence she has told friends that Gowariker who’s currently directing her in What’s Your Raashee said what he felt and that she holds no grudges.
Too private and dignified a person to speak against anyone Priyanka has apparently made up her mind to finish her work on Raashee and move on quietly.
Says a source, “It’s not a good time for Priyanka. Shayad usski raashee achchi nahin hai, pun intended. What’s Your Raashee is the toughest role of her career. Priyanka not only had to enact twelve parts she also had to assemble all twelve parts on the screen together for the climax. It sapped her. She even fainted on the sets. And now after having won every single popular award for Fashion it’s a shame that she was publicly told that she didn’t deserve the award, and that too from her own director. Anyway Priyanka is a professional. She hasn’t allowed her breakup with Hurman to affect her on-screen chemistry with him. She won’t let this incident sour her.In fact she jokingly told a friend she hopes to be back at the awards with Raashee.”
Fashion director Madhur Bhandarkar is far more openly vocal. “I’m shocked by what Ashutosh had to say. We’re friends and I admire his work. More than us, our wives are very close friends. If he felt this way he should’ve shared it with me and Priyanka, not spoilt the golden moment for her on stage. Priyanka got every popular award. Doesn’t that prove she deserves it?” |

 News about their relationship having come to an end has been doing the rounds for a couple of weeks now. On April 15, Mumbai Mirror had first broken the news that all’s not well between the two. Priyanka was fed up of Shahid’s constant interference and he expected her to play the conservative girl, which didn’t go down well with the actress.
A senior and very sexy actress informs us that the relationship is finally off. “When I heard Priyanka and Shahid have called off their relationship, my reaction was one of incredulity. I didn’t even know they were a couple,” she said.
According to sources, Priyanka, who has been linked with the Hollywood hunk Gerard Butler at the same time as her relationship with Shahid began to gather momentum, tried very hard to make her relationship with Shahid work.
A source said, “Priyanka is a faithful and very romantic girl. As long as she was with Harman Baweja, there wasn’t even a whiff of her having a fling with anyone else. But then she simply outgrew Harman. She only tried to make the relationship work for old time’s sake.”
The relationship with Shahid started when during the shoot of their film Kaminey, Shahid saved her face from being injured when they both slipped and fell from a scooter. Shahid had reflexively extended his hand and buffered her fall.
